When the money arrives
- Private school and homeschool: Four equal deposits of $1,625. Before you can spend each one, you confirm in Odyssey that your child isn't in public school that quarter. Students approved mid-year are funded only for the quarters left. 1st (25%): Jul 2026; 2nd (25%): Oct 2026; 3rd (25%): Jan 2027; 4th (25%): Apr 2027.
Good to know
- Pre-K is not covered. Children entering kindergarten can apply.
- Eligibility is limited. Your home must be zoned to a public school on the state's list of the lowest-performing 25%, and your child must have attended Georgia public school for the two semesters right before (rising kindergartners are exempt).
- A parent must have lived in Georgia for at least a year (active-duty military families are an exception).
- Families at or below 400% of the federal poverty level get priority if there aren't enough funds. For the spring semester only those families are considered.
- The Nov 1 to 30, 2026 window is open now. Students approved in a later window are funded only for the rest of the school year.
- You can't combine it with the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship or a tax-credit (SSO) scholarship. Students must take a yearly test.
- Up to half of a year's award can roll over to the next year.
