How ESA amounts work in 2026-27
- Private school: $7,000 per child. One amount for private school and home-based students, with or without an IEP.
- Homeschool: $7,000 per child. One amount for private school and home-based students, with or without an IEP.
When the money arrives
- Private school and homeschool: Four equal deposits. Families approved in the October window start with the Dec 10 deposit. 1st (25%): Early Sep 2026; 2nd (25%): Early Nov 2026; 3rd (25%): Early Feb 2027; 4th (25%): Early May 2027.
Good to know
- Pre-K is covered only for 4-year-olds in families at or below 250% of the federal poverty level.
- Students approved for 2025-26 also carry over a one-time $1,750 that can be used only on 2026-27 expenses.
- Purchases before Sep 1, 2026 can't be reimbursed.
- The program is running while the court case over whether it's constitutional continues.
